Jawab: perusahaan atau badan usaha yang menjual koneksi internet atau sejenisnya kepada pelanggan.

2.       Sebutkan criteria pemilihan sebuah ISP!

4.       Jelaskan langkah-langkah untuk memulai koneksi internet melalui dial-up!

Jawab:

Ø  Klik start-All Programs-Accessories-Communications-New Connection Wizard.      

Ø  Pada kotak dialog New Connection Wizard klik tombol Next, sehingga muncul New Connection Wizard-Network Connection Type.

Ø  Klik pilihan Connect to the internet,untuk terhubung dengan jaringan internet.

Ø  Klik tombol next lagi sehingga muncul kotak dialog New Connection Wizard Getting Ready.

Ø  Klik pilihan Set Up my connection manually, untuk koneksi ke internet secara manual.

Ø  Klik tombol Next lagi, kemudian klik pilihan Connect Using a dial-up modem, jika computer dilengkapi dengan modem dan klik tombol Next lagi.

Ø  Ketik nama ISP pada kotak ISP name (misal Telkom Net) dan klik tombol Next lagi.

Ø  Ketik nomor telepon dial dari ISP yang digunakan pada kotak Phone number, (jika ISP-nya adalah telkomNet maka nomor dialnya adalah 080989999) dan klik tombol INext lagi.

Ø  Ketik nama pengguna pada kotak isian username (username  dari telkomnet adalah telkomnet@instan).

Ø  Pada kotak isian password, ketik passwordnya (Telkom).

Ø  Klik tombol next, beri tanda centang pada kotak di depan add a shortcut to the connection to my desktop maka shortcut telkomnet akan ditampilkan di desktop. Kemudian klik tombol finish.

Ø  Untuk memulai koneksi ke internet kita dapat mengklik shortcut 2 kali yang ada dalam desktop.

Ø  Selanjutnya akan muncul jendela connect telkomnet. Klik tombol dial, sehingga koneksi ke internet dimulai dan jika koneksi ke internet berhasil maka proses verifikasi username dan password akan dilakukan. Tunggu sampai proses selesai.

Ø  Jika proses verifikasi selesai maka icon telkomnet akan ditampilkan pada taskbar.

Ø  Klik icon telkomnet tersebut maka akan muncul kecepatan computer kita dalam mengakses internet.
